So, a lot of things have been going on lately. Namely, I’m trying to figure out how better to market my work. I’ve tried blogging, I’ve tried being social on my networks, I’ve tried paid ads with GoogleAdWords, and it seems like none of that is working. I’m taking marketing classes and I’m reading marketing books like they’re going out of style. I’m implementing everything that I’ve read, and tweaking some of my work already and that’s just not helping.
SEO on my site is down considerably, even though I’m doing everything by the books. So, I’m tired of it. I’ve decided to speak when I feel I have something passionate to speak about. Facebook is changing their algorithms again and making it even harder for pages to get interaction unless we pay for it, and honestly, it’s not worth the price to pay for interaction on Facebook. How often do you go to Facebook to buy shit? Probably never.
So, that leads me to the point of this post. I’m just going to write and do what I love doing instead of doing what I think will help me market. There’s a lot of things I don’t like doing, that I do to keep sales up (and I have no real knowledge of if these things help sales or not). Mainly, blogging three times a week just to get traffic. I hate it, and I don’t feel like I’m putting out quality content, so I refuse to do it now. I still enjoy talking with people on Facebook and Twitter (when I can figure out Twitter).
At any rate, I have to believe that the authors who are my competition didn’t get there by breaking their neck with marketing. So what does the future hold for me?
I am working on the outline for a rather interesting book right now that I’m calling To Remake the Wind. That should be rather interesting, and I don’t want to give too much of it away other than it is a deeply personal story about dealing with loss of faith and losing loved ones. Of course, being me, there is going to be a definite weird slant to it.
Vampires! Yep, they are coming soon too. In fact, next week I will be finalizing the outline for the first book, Under a Sanguine Moon.
After that, not really sure, but I have tons of material!
Anyway, thanks for listening to my rant. Peace out home-fries!
