I’m sorry for the people who loved Interstellar, but it just wasn’t for me. The movie seemed entirely too long for what it was. Nearly three hours in length, and a lot of the footage could have been scrapped. Does this mean I didn’t like Interstellar? Not at all. I thought it was an okay movie, but it certainly didn’t live up to the hype.
We start the movie in an Earth on the decline. Crops are dying, and humanity isn’t expected to survive much longer. They are making every attempt they can to save humans, including looking to move the species off-world. NASA has found a wormhole near Saturn, and they are sending people to check out what their probes have found: potentially habitable planets.
The movie does a really good job at building the characters and making you feel the connection between the girl, Murphy, and her father. There were some really awesome scenes of alien worlds, which was enough to get me excited because alien worlds always get me going. But the movie just left me feeling “meh.” So when the end of the movie came about, I’d already guessed one aspect of it, and the rest of it just seemed really strange given what we’d seen so far in the movie. I hate to use the term far-fetched, but that’s how I felt with the end of the movie.
I would give Interstellar 3 stars. I enjoyed the actors, the acting, the scenery, and the concept but I didn’t enjoy the length and the delivery of the plot.
