EPIC COVERS FOR FANTASY BOOKS
There are some really great covers out there for fantasy books. Certainly more than can fit in any list, but I really wanted to make a list of my favorite! If you know me, you know I really love covers, and as a fantasy author, I really love great covers for fantasy books. I’m the type of person that will literally buy a book just because I love the cover. Normally I’m less than thrilled with the story, but I love the cover, so who cares, right? Here are some fantasy books that I really love the covers for!
Whenever my cover artist asks the “feel” I want for my covers, I will normally say “Make it awesome like The Name of the Wind!” In all honesty, Patrick Rothfuss has tons of covers I love, but this is pretty much my go-to “oooo shiny” cover love!
I love any cover with nice frilly looking smoke on it! I’m not sure why this guy is going into the woods shirtless, but it poses a striking image. I also love the texture!
Another author with too many great covers to list. This was the first book I bought by Brandon Sanderson, and yes, I bought it for the cover. I’ve read about a third of it and then lost my book. I haven’t made it around to buying another copy, but the story was enjoyable.
This cover leaves me with the burning question: who does the artwork for these authors? I constantly try to get artists to do covers for me, and they never respond hahaha. Great cover, pretty elf!
There’s really too many of Daniel Arenson’s covers that I love. They are so dramatic, and the artwork is amazing. Props to him!
There are some fantasy books you see the covers of and you think “damn, why can’t that be my cover?” This one by Jennings Wright does that for me. I want this cover! I settled for buying the book instead 😀
Alright, this one is a little strange for me. This was one of my very first fantasy novels to read and I’m not really sure if I love the cover because it was an awesome story, or if it’s really because the cover of this book by Mercedes Lackey is really epic. I think it’s because it’s an epic cover, like most of her Valdemar covers are.
David Eddings is a great author and his covers express the artful way he writes fantasy. If I had to pick just one cover of his numerous fantasy books to love, The Sorceress of Darshiva would be at the top.
The covers of The Wayfarer’s Redemption series by Sara Douglass are all really great covers. This one is awesome because it captures so many elements of her story.
So what do you think? What one is your favorite? Which covers do you love that I didn’t mention? I’d love to hear from you on your favorite covers for fantasy books!
