So if you haven’t seen any previews for Avengers: Age of Ultron, you probably haven’t seen that Captain America almost lifts Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir. Our favorite Avengers are having a pretty awesome little drinking party and Thor taunts all of them that they can’t lift his hammer. If they are able to heft Mjolnir, then they can rule all of Asgard. After a few of the heroes try, we see Captain America give it a go. The best part in this clip is when he budges Mjolnir and the smug look on Thor’s face melts away.
EPIC. If you haven’t seen it, feel free to watch said clip here:
So, I’ve never read the comics, but I have a burning question. WHAT would happen if Captain America was able to lift Thor’s hammer? As we see in the preview he budges it, which means he’s slightly worthy of lifting it (which I can see why). This clip tells us that Captain America actually does lift the hammer in the comic.
Having watched some Agents of SHIELD I know that a lot of mayhem tends to befall humans that come in contact with Asgardian relics. Would this happen to Captain America if he lifted Mjolnir? Apparently not. According to Inquisitr, Captain America has lifted Thor’s hammer twice in the comicverse. Not only that but he’s worn Nova‘s helmet once which would have made any regular human go insane. So, apparently he wouldn’t go insane from the power of Mjolnir.
